Dracula Halloween Costume


Need a Dracula Halloween Costume in a hurry?

Our Count favours an elegant black cape lined with red satin.

His white satin waistcoat is truly simple to make, because the front part is really all that is needed and is held in place by Velcro with only tapes tied at the back

Our candle is safe because it is made from cardboard.

    Costume

  • White shirt
  • Black shoes
  • Joke teeth from a toy shop
  • Shirts with a collar, folding down the collar and ironing for a wing-collar look
  • Medallion
  • 18 inches of purple ribbon
  • A piece of fake jewellery and fastening ends for the ribbon

To start

Position the ribbon into a V point and sew in placeSew the jewellery to the V pointTurn in the raw edges of the ribbon and sew on the fastening.

The Bow tie

12 inches of white ribbon18 inches of wide white tape

To start

Cut 9.5 inches of the ribbon and fold it bringing the ends together at the centre of the length and sew the ends in place,

The remaining ribbon you fold in half along its length and wind it tightly around each edge.

Slot the tape through his centre pierce and sew on fastener ends of the tape shortening the tape as needed to fit around your kid's shirt.

Waistcoat

Making it

Copy the pattern outline onto the paper square by square.Bring together the edges of the fabric.Cut out the waist coat front pieces 2 times f rot is double thickness fabric.,Join the pieces together around the edges leaving the shoulder edges open.Trim seams and then turn right side out and iron.Turn in the shoulder edges at the seam line and slip stitch.Now fold back the lapel and oversew the folded back edges to hold in place.Cut the furry Velcro in half and sew one to each shoulder edge of the waistcoat on the wrong side.

Lay the waist coat pieces side by side with centre front edge together.

Lap the centre front edges 3/8 inch and sew on the buttons at regular spacing right through the fabric. Cut the length of tape into 2 pieces and sew one end of the side edges of the waistcoat as shown.

To fix this waistcoat to the shirt, place the short medallion and bow tier on the kid. Place waistcoat front in position and tie the tapes a the back to fit neatly. Place the shoulder edges of waistcoat level with shoulder seams of the shirt. Mark the position of the Velcro strips on waistcoat and to the shirt using pins.

Remove all items and attach hooked strips of velcro to the marked positions on the short edges of waistcoat so it can be attached when worn.
