Just a quick reminder to all our readers that Whitby has its very own Bram Stoker International Film Festival.

Here’s part of the festival’s mission statement:

The Bram Stoker International Film Festival established in order to provide more opportunities and exposure for filmmakers, screenwriters, Sci-Fi and games developers working within the horror, science fiction and suspense genres, as well as to draw more attention to WHITBY by means of our annual Film Festival.

It’s great to see that Whitby is attracting such quality events and this can only be a good thing for the town and its inhabitants.

Vick was born in Barcelona SPAIN in 1980 and started filming in 1997 ( horror shorts, fantastic & gore). In 2007 he filmed his first feature GRAVEYARD OF THE DEAD aka El Monte de las Animas. The film honours Amando de Ossorio’s Blind Dead series. This film appeared on DVD in September of this year in Europe and USA & Canada. His second film is “The Undertaker” aka El Sepulturero ( a history of the 1920 horror and fantastic film genre). The film was completed in August 2009. Next year he has plans to start two new films. Busy guy!

His influences are Fulci, Corman, Schnaas, Jean Rollin…

Check out the Teaser of his first film: Tombs of the Blind Dead

Always happy to promote new talent in this genre.

Hmm… as I’m also a composer, I wonder whether he needs a soundtrack scoring. Just a thought
