Here’s the latesr Halloween update from the Dracula’s Ball team…
Fall has arrived, so naturally we are eagerly awaiting our favorite night of the year, Halloween. While it inconveniently falls on a Monday this year, we believe you’ll agree that sitting at home on Halloween is simply unacceptable.
The next Dracula’s Ball will take place on Halloween (Monday, October 31st). Tickets are $16 in advance and can be purchased without service charges from IsoTank.com or Digital Ferret CDs. Ticketmaster also has tickets online, by phone and in person.
Please RSVP to this event on Facebook. You can also use our event page to invite your Facebook friends to the party.
Doors open at 9pm and our event ends at 2am. Tickets are $16 and are on sale now through Ticketmaster (online and in person), Digital Ferret (in person) and IsoTank (online, free shipping for 5 or more tickets). We’ll keep our website and Facebook page updated with ticket information.
Our Facebook page is frequently updated with news on ticket availability and other matters. You can also use Facebook to officially RSVP to the Ball, Share links to the Ball on your own page and see how many of your friends have already RSVP’d to the event.
Halloween is always spectacular with incredible costumes (just check our photo albums on Facebook). While you won’t be turned away without a costume, this is the perfect time to release your inner….well, whatever you have! We are always amazed by your creativity and look forward to seeing what’s in your imagination this year.
Best wishes,
[Patrick] & Dracula’s Ball Staff

We’re pleased to announce the appearance of celebrity guest DJ Steve Archer (of Ego Likeness). He’ll be joined by DJs Kangal and MissGuided. As usual, we’ll have 3 DJs spinning in 3 separate rooms, so you’ll always be able to find a solid groove you can dance to. Now let’s meet our live bands:
PLATFORM ONE: Fusing together old school New Romantic with gothic and industrial influences, Platform One have spent the last year wowing crowds at various festivals and conventions (most recently at the Steampunk World’s Faire). Founded in 1999, the band originally hailed from Rhode Islands but is now based out of New York.

DISMANTLED: Their unique blend of electro industrial has crossed boundaries, meshing everything from the pop of Paula Abdul to the grind of Nine Inch Nails into a sonic attack like no other. Based in California, the band is signed to Metropolis Records and is touring to support a brand-new album, The War Inside Me

This Ball takes place in our favorite location, Shampoo Nightclub, at 7th & Willow Streets in Philadelphia, PA (Mapquest and Google Maps info can be found on our website). As always, the Ball is open to all ages, but you must be 21+ with proper photo ID to drink. There is a large, free, enclosed parking lot, but it fills up quickly for the Ball. Personal photo cameras are welcome. Large professional camera rigs with unpleasant flash bulbs are not. Video cameras are not allowed. Our Facebook page is frequently updated with news on ticket availability and other matters. You can also use Facebook to officially RSVP to the Ball, Share links to the Ball on your own page and see how many of your friends have already RSVP’d to the event. We saw a number of new faces at the last Ball and hope this trend continues. Bring your friends! We’re always happy to meet new people and to see our community grow. We hope you can join us on July 23rd. Best wishes, [Patrick] & Dracula’s Ball Staff P.S. Before you ask, The Colbert Report has not yet set an air date for their vampire/Dracula’s Ball segment. We’ll let you know when we hear from them. |
Here’s the latest update from those ‘Dracula’s Ball’ chaps in the States.
As usual, lots happening…
![]() Dearest friends, Spring is here, and we’re little more than a month away from the next Dracula’s Ball event. We’re excited about it for many reasons, not the least of which being that it marks the first time we’ve had an Australian band take the stage. It’s going to be quite a show! April 23rd, 2011 is our next date. We have a truly fantastic lineup for the show and demand for tickets has already been quite brisk. Tickets are $16 in advance and can be purchased without service charges from IsoTank.com or Digital Ferret CDs. Ticketmaster also has tickets online, by phone and in person. Please RSVP to this event on Facebook. |

Artists Appearing at Dracula’s Ball 04-23-2011 |
|
We’re pleased to announce the appearance of celebrity guest DJ Chris Vrenna (of nine inch nails and Marilyn Manson). He’ll be joined by DJs Jack Phoenix and Cypher. As usual, we’ll have 3 DJs spinning in 3 separate rooms, so you’ll always be able to find a solid groove you can dance to. Now let’s meet our live bands: |
![]() Since their previous appearance at Dracula’s Ball, Ayria has been a very busy band. They’ve toured the world extensively, leaving their native Canada to hit the road with Project Pitchfork, VNV Nation and others. Ayria also released a very well-received album, Hearts and Bullets, and is currently in the studio recording their upcoming fourth release. Proudly waving a pink and black banner, Ayria melds glittery pop elements to danceable EBM beats, resulting in a confection that fills club dance floors and gets sung loudly in the car on the way home as well. Think Hello Kitty meets Bladerunner and you’ll be in the right ballpark. Prepare to dance! |
![]() Over the years, we’ve brought you many great acts from around the world, but this will be our very first Australian band. One of the top-selling acts on Dancing Ferret Discs, the band is now signed to Metropolis Records and was hand-picked by KMFDM to support them on their last US tour. Angelspit has both male and female vocals, sometimes clear and sometimes full of distortion. Their music is glitchy industrial influenced by noise and even a bit of punk, yet some of their tracks are staples of alternative dance clubs (the song “100%” in particular). The band has a very distinct and thoughtfully designed aesthetic, so expect a show that looks as good as it rocks. |

There are times I wished I lived in the States so that I could go to the Dracula’s Ball.
Here’s their latest Halloween update:
Well, folks, we’re just about there.
Our biggest Dracula’s Ball event of the year (which is also our final Ball for 2010) is happening this weekend! We can barely contain our excitement.
This year we get the rare opportunity to officially ring in the very first seconds of Halloween at the stroke of midnight, just a little after the halfway point of our party (we start at 9pm on October 30th, just a few hours before Halloween starts). We’re pleased that you can share your Halloween 2010 first dance, first kiss, first drink, first candy bar…or first bite with us.
The most common questions we receive during the week before Halloween are about ticket availability. We’ve written extensively on that topic in this bulletin; see below.
Ticket Availability (or, “Is it sold out yet?”)
You can still purchase tickets for this Saturday’s event, but keep in mind that our Halloween event has sold out for several years in a row now. Our most recent Ball in July was also sold out. We very strongly recommend buying your tickets *now* while you still can.
Tuesday morning at 10am EST is your last chance to get tickets by mail from IsoTank (and you can get free shipping on orders of 5 or more tickets). After that, you can still order from IsoTank but your tickets will be held at their retail location for you to pick up.
Ticketmaster will have tickets available online until late Friday night (if tickets are not sold out). You can also visit Ticketmaster locations in person to buy tickets. TM service charges apply in either case.
Digital Ferret will be selling tickets at their store right up until 10pm on the night of the Ball (if tickets are not sold out).
If you won’t know until the last minute if you’re coming or not, there are two places you can check for real-time ticket information. Our Facebook page will be immediately updated when tickets are sold out, as will our ticket availability hotline (215-477-5161). These are both updated from the Ball in real-time. Our website will have current ticket information up until the day of the show.

Entertainment: 4 DJs, 2 bands and fascinating fellow patrons
We’re pleased to welcome special celebrity guest DJs Rhys Fulber (of Front Line Assembly and Conjure One) and Daniel Myer (of Haujobb and Covenant). They’ll have an entire dancefloor to themselves all night long, so you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy what they’re playing (Daniel Myer fans take note: he’s spinning early, so don’t be late!) We’re also pleased to welcome guest DJ Wintermute from New Jersey, and returning guest DJ Azrael from Massachusetts. Three dancefloors will be open all night.
We have two live performances as well. Baltimore’s Red This Ever performs at 10:35pm and Colorado’s Seraphim Shock performs at 12:05am. As previously mentioned, Celldweller is unable to appear due to problems at their booking agency.
Dark and clever lyrics and a sound somewhere between rock and synthpop are the hallmarks of this Baltimore-based band. Equally influenced by Joy Division and Wolfsheim and having previously appeared on stage with And One and Das Ich (among others), Red This Ever is completely danceable and very watchable. This is their first appearance at Dracula’s Ball. Be sure to click this YouTube link for their song Aahhhhhhhhhhhhhh Lets Go!, which should give you an excellent idea of their sound.
There aren’t many bands better suited to playing a vampire Halloween party than Seraphim Shock. Their style is a blend of goth and hard rock with elements of industrial programming thrown in. The centerpiece of the band’s sound is the theatrical vocal style of frontman Charles Edward (that’s him in the picture), equally capable of Peter Murphy-style operatic feats and heavy metal wailing. While fans of Type O Negative should especially appreciate this mixture, in truth we can’t imagine anyone at a Halloween party who could possibly resist dancing and/or throwing the horns for this fantastic band.

Details, Some of Which Will Be Familiar to You
The next Dracula’s Ball takes place on Saturday, October 30th, 2010. Our party begins when doors open at 9pm, Halloween officially starts at midnight, and our event ends at 2am.
Since this is our Halloween event, costumes are strongly encouraged, but they are not absolutely required. Visit our website to see pictures of some of the best outfits from previous events. Here’s just a very small sampling from last Halloween.
Our Facebook page is frequently updated with news on ticket availability and other matters. You can also use Facebook to officially RSVP to the Ball, Share links to the Ball on your own page and see how many of your friends have already RSVP’d to the event.
Even if you already have your tickets, we recommend stopping in for a visit at Digital Ferret, purveyor of fine goods such as CDs, Tshirts, books, toys, and all things dark and spooky. Their store is easy to find and centrally located.
The anticipation here is so thick you could…well, you could bite it! Once we have you and our other guests here, the energy level will be through the roof. We can’t wait to catch up with you, check out your costume, and celebrate the start of Halloween with you. We’ll see you on the 30th.
Best wishes,
[Patrick] & Dracula’s Ball Staff

Here’s more news from the Dracula’s Ball crowd. Seems like a particularly interesting newsletter…
Dear friends,
On May 15th, 2010 we will be hosting the 50th Dracula’s Ball event. Reaching this milestone stirs up so many emotions for us, for a number of reasons. Our sense of pride in what we’ve created is strong, but more powerful still is our sense of gratitude. Your continued and consistent support and attendance have helped to keep Dracula’s Ball growing. Moreover, by your very presence – your charming conversation, your creative attire, your impassioned dancing and everything else that you bring – you have made the Ball a better event. We often receive proposals to bring Dracula’s Ball to other cities. We always decline (although Beijing was very tempting) because unless we brought our entire audience with us, the Ball just wouldn’t be the Ball.
In planning DB 50, we wanted something special, but not something so different that our regular guests wouldn’t recognize it as Dracula’s Ball. Sure it might be fun to fly in Rammstein and have the show on a huge battleship in international waters…but that wouldn’t really feel like a Ball. In the past, we’ve focused on great musicians, DJs, performers and vendors from around the world. This time, we decided to focus on the most important talent that we work with: you, our guests.
Of course on May 15th we will have a fantastic lineup of artists, as you would anticipate. We fully expect Dracula’s Ball #50 to be an amazing and exciting experience, befitting such an important anniversary. But you’ve helped us realize our dream of turning the Ball into the best-known event of its kind in the world, and now we want to turn our attention to making some of your dreams come true, too.
Have you ever wanted a music lesson from one of your favorite musicians? How exciting would it be to receive a video birthday card from your favorite band? Who could resist being jealous when they find out that your favorite singer has recorded your outgoing voicemail message for you? Or maybe you’d just like to show up at the Ball in a limousine and be the very first person through the door.
These are just a few of the experiences and items we’re putting together in what we’re calling our “Dark Dreams Collection.” We’ll be announcing the full list before the end of this month. The Collection will be offered through a combination raffle and auction, with 100% of the proceeds going to support three worthy charities (Musicopia, SPARC and Human Rights Watch). With just a single lucky $1 raffle ticket you could walk away with the experience of a lifetime and support a great cause as well.
Continue watching our website for updated details on bands, DJs and of course the Dark Dreams Collection for Dracula’s Ball 50. Mark your calendars now for May 15th, 2010. It will be like a family reunion (without the potato salad) and we expect to see all of you there.
Warm regards,
[Patrick]
& Dracula’s Ball Staff
P.S. We’re starting to photograph the memorabilia items in our Dark Dreams Collection and we thought you’d like to see the first one. Apparently Johnny Depp not only has great taste in hats, but in instruments as well. His autographed electric guitar will have a new home after DB 50 – perhaps yours? Take a look:
