I’ve just read a very entertaining account of Whitby written by Helen Buhaenko in The Independent.
The article, ‘Coast Watch: Tracing the footsteps of Dinosaurs and Dracula in Whitby‘ seems to capture the essence of Whitby and is a great summary of all the things you can do in the area, whatever your age.

And… this is just the tip of the iceberg. Helen doesn’t get into the Goth Festivals, the imposing Abbey or the 199 Steps!
I guess I take it all for granted (a mistake, I know), but if you haven’t been to Whitby before, NOW is the time to come if you possibly can.
