[Dracula's Ball] Elvira, Poe, The Sisters of Mercy & Dracula’s Ball – weekend in Philly

Another update following on from yesterday…

Alan

It’s almost that time, folks…

Philadelphia is THE place to be for Halloween weekend.  Make your way to the city early on Friday evening to catch the one and only Elvira, Mistress of The Dark, at the Edgar Allen Poe House:

“Join Elvira from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Philadelphia home of the popular author where she will participate in a reading of The Raven in honor of Poe’s upcoming 200th birthday on January 19, 2009. 530 N. 7th Street, (215) 597-8780, www.nps.gov/edal for info”

Later on that evening, catch The Sisters of Mercy live in concert at the Trocadero Theatre.  If you’ve never seen The Sisters before, take the opportunity and do it now!  As further incentive for you to brush up on your dark-rock fundamentals, The Trocadero is offering a special two-for-one ticket deal.  Here’s the link:

Dracula: The Musical

Here’s an interesting shot of Dracula music set in Whitby.

What do you think?

Alan

Prologue / Over Whitby Bay (DRACULA: THE MUSICAL)

MINA:

Staring out to sea
Full of dark premonitions
Thinking what to say
As the sun, slowly dims
Over Whitby Bay

MINA + HARKER :

On that summer night
When we first shared a carriage
Down the road, curving round
Over Whitby Bay

MINA:

We strolled to the old bowling green

HARKER:

The orchestra played sweet sixteen

MINA + HARKER:

Then we kissed our first kiss
My thoughts turn everyday
Back to Whitby Bay

MINA:

Why do I feel cold?
Why am I so frightened?

HARKER:

Why did I agree to go so far away!
Will I ever see you again?

MINA:

I’ll stare out to sea until then

MINA + HARKER:

We were so happy here
My thoughts turn, everyday
Back to Whitby Bay

One more lonely night
Full of dark premonitions
Shall we see the day?
When the sun slowly dims
Over Whitby Bay
Over Whitby Bay

Dracula’s Ball

Here’s the latest information from the Dracula’s Ball team.  If you’re in the States, lucky you!

Alright, folks – here’s an important update about ticket availability for the upcoming Dracula’s Ball event this Saturday, November 1st.  Before we give you this info, we want to stress again that ticket sales for this event are extremely strong.  There may be a small quantity of tickets available at the door, but it will not be enough for everybody. If  you want to attend this Ball, please do not delay any longer – buy your tickets right now.

*** Tuesday October 28th at noon (Eastern Time) is the deadline to order tickets that will be shipped to you by IsoTank. After that deadline, you can still order tickets from IsoTank but you will have to select “Hold for Pickup at Digital Ferret” as your delivery method.  That means you have to stop in at Digital Ferret CDs (215-925-9259, 732 S. 4th St., Philly) to pick up your tickets.
Your tickets will NOT be waiting for you at the Ball.  Digital Ferret is open 12pm-10pm daily (7pm Sundays).  As long as you get to the store before 10pm, you could even pick them up right on your way to the Ball.

*** The deadline to get tickets by mail from Ticketmaster has already passed. If you order tickets online from Ticketmaster.com, you will have to select Will Call as a delivery method.  In this case, your tickets will be waiting for you at the Will Call window at the Ball.  When you arrive, just ask a staff member to direct you to
the Will Call line. Ticketmaster will stop selling tickets online on Friday night.

*** You can still get tickets in person at Ticketmaster outlets right up until show time, assuming there are tickets left

*** You can still get tickets in person at Digital Ferret CDs right up until show time, assuming there are tickets left

*** You can get tickets in person at the cashier window at Shampoo Nightclub during Nocturne Wednesdays this Wednesday night, October 29th, 9pm-2am (cashier window closes 1:30am).

*** Our ticket information hotline will be in use for this event.  You can call 215-477-5161 at any time to find out if the event has sold out or if tickets are still available.  If you’re making a last minute decision to try your luck with door tickets, call the info line to check out the situation.  Even during the Ball itself, we will keep this info line updated.

*** PLEASE NOTE:  It is possible that Ticketmaster, Digital Ferret, or IsoTank may run out of physical, printed tickets. This does not necessarily mean the show is sold out; entry may still be available
at the door.  Please check our web site and our phone line for CORRECT and up to the minute information on ticket supply.

Best wishes,

[Patrick] and Dracula’s Ball staff

Gothic Weekend in Whitby

And if yesterday’s post didn’t put you off, here’s where you should stay…

GOTHIC WEEKEND IN WHITBY

Tony and Rivkah’s stay at Bats and Broomsticks, a Gothic Victorian guesthouse in Whitby, Yorkshire, the town where Bram Stoker wrote Dracula. Film produced by www.yourphotomovies.co.uk.

Whitby Goth Weekend and Fish and Chips!

Tongue in cheek stuff… the Goth Weekend is a great attraction!

FISH & CHIPS at Whitby Goth Weekend Festival 2008

Our original song/video about Whitby Goth Weekend / Festival.

Featuring beautiful goth girls in Whitby.

We used to be goths by the way, so don’t take offense if you are a goth. Meant to be a celebration of black stuff & all things gothy in a mick-taking sort of way…didn’t want to be too sycophantic.

Oh & just for the record, the section where Chris (the singer) says; “full of f**king clowns” was a reference to the town of Middlesbrough as we were discussing the location of Blaises nightclub as we ad libbed the song. It wasn’t a reference to Goths or the village of Whitby.

It’s unfortunate that I had to edit out the bit about Boro that followed (as the song was getting too long) & it sounds like he’s referring to Whitby as I edit back in.
