Let’s Get Wed in Whitby!

According to the Scarborough Evening News, six out of 10 people married in Whitby come from outside North Yorkshire.

The North Yorkshire County Council’s registration service apparently conducts more than 200 weddings a year in Whitby and, even more surprising, about 60% of the couples come from outside the county.

Guess why it’s so popular with newly weds? Whitby’s connections with Dracula and its Goth festivals!

Last Halloween there were 12 weddings and one civil partnership, with only one NOT having a Goth theme.

If you’re thinking (or have) tied the know in Whitby, why not get in touch and share your experience with the rest of the world… bet you look lovely in black!

New Dracula Movies To Hit The Big Screen

According to Variety, there are plans afoot for a new Dracula movie based not on Bram Stoker’s hero, but on the historical figure of Vlad the Impaler. The film is to be called, ‘Dracula, Year Zero.’ Can’t wait!

Of even more interest, Elizabeth Kostova’s novel, ‘The Historian’, is also set to make its appearance on the big screen. I think the ‘Blair Witch’ guy could be involved!

If you haven’t read the novel, I suggest you do so as it’s an excellent read. It’s a kind of ‘thinking persons’ Dracula story, based on certain actual historical events, but with a gothic twist.

Things are looking up!
