This might be of interest to US visitors...Happy New Year to all of you. We're very excited about seeing you all next month at the 40th Dracula's Ball event, "Dracula's Ball XL" featuring And One and Ego Likeness as well as our new Bellydance Lounge. This is the ONLY Northeastern US show by And One on a weekend-night, so don't miss it! Sales are already very brisk for this event, so advance tickets are highly
recommended.
We wanted to pass on some details about another show happening this weekend in Philadelphia. It's not a Dracula's Ball event, but if you love synthpop/new wave/80s music, you CANNOT miss this show. We've forwarded the details below and definitely recommend checking out the YouTube link included, even if it's just to wrap your brain around the crazy 80s
haircuts. :-)
More Ball news in our next bulletin. For now, here's the scoop on this Saturday's big concert with Information Society.
~---FWD-----~
2008 is finally here, and with it comes one of the most exciting concert events of the entire year. How cool is that? As you know by now, we really like bringing in big bands for huge, exclusive shows. We've had a lot of fun with that, and Philadelphia, both as a city and as a music scene, has done well as a result, too. We have a big show this weekend that everyone
(including us!) is EXTREMELY excited about.
On Saturday, January 5th, Dancing Ferret Concerts is pleased to host an East Coast Exclusive concert with INFORMATION SOCIETY. If you think you don't know who they are, just visit this YouTube link and you'll remember in a hurry: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ijAYN9zVnwg
One of the founding fathers of the synthpop genre and a huge influence on countless industrial, new wave, electronic, synthpop, EBM and other acts, Information Society has a long and celebrated career. In 1988, Kurt, Paul and James wowed the music world with the release of their self-titled debut album. Now, almost twenty years later, the trio are taking to the stage in support of their latest release, SYNTHESIZER.
Fans will be happy to hear that many of the band's best-known songs are in the live show (it's a pretty safe bet you'll hear "What's On Your Mind? (Pure Energy)" at the gig) and there will be songs from SYNTHESIZER in the mix as well. Although the band is considering two or three more dates on the West Coast and Southern parts of the country, there will be NO other East Coast dates (unless maybe they get cold in the winter and want to do a show in Miami).
This concert will take place at the historic Trocadero Theatre at 10th and Arch in Philadelphia. Doors open at 8pm. Because so many people will be coming in from out of town for this event, we STRONGLY urge purchasing advance tickets There is no show in NYC, no show in DC, no show anywherenear Philly. Tickets are on sale now, available from The Trocadero,Digital Ferret (215-925-9259), IsoTank (www.isotank.com) or Ticketmaster. Advance tickets are $20. VIP advance tickets are $35 and allow you front-of-line access to get into the show earlier, and your choice of a free Information Society "Synthesizer" Tshirt or CD (which you'll pick up at the show). All ages are welcome; you must be 21+ with proper ID to drink.
We're also happy to have two fantastic bands (and our good friends) join us for this event. ThouShaltNot and Cesium 137 will be the opening acts for this amazing show. Also, this show will be FILMED for inclusion on an upcoming Information Society DVD, so you may well find yourself becoming a part of InSoc history!
