June 23, 2007 09:40 - Salt in the Blood
Salt in the Blood (1995) is a ghost story based on the legend of a fatal quarrel between two Norwegian sailors over who was the better dancer. Four traditional seas shanties form the backbone of the music, and its text draws from fragments of ships' log books, the Beaufort Scale, and from chapter 7 of Dracula using text from both the Dailygraph report and the log of the Demeter.
This classical CD by the English classical composer Judith Bingham (b.1952), was released in March 2007 by Naxos. The CD's reference number is 8.570346.

June 23, 2007 21:49 - Hammer 'Dracula' Restored to full 'Gory Glory'!
The Hammer Horror version of 'Dracula' has been restored in its full 'gory glory' and was recently screened at the Cannes Film Festival. According to researchers at the British Film Institute, certain scenes which featured 'groans, hammer blows with wooden stakes and blood' were cut from the original by squeamish 1950s censors. We can only hope that the missing footage will soon be available on DVD for us all to enjoy!
